Dan founded Metris in 2011, after a 16 year military career including 8 years service as an Officer with Specialist Military Units. He has a breadth of operational experience at both command and staff and is an expert at developing high performing teams that deliver under the most demanding conditions. He held appointments teaching, coaching and mentoring at the Royal Military Academy Sandurst and the Army Staff College, where he was responsible for leadership development and planning processes. He also served in the MOD working in operations and crisis management.
Dan has a BA in History and an MA in Strategy. He is a keen runner & climber and owns a small border terrier named Grizzle.
Nick joined Metris as a Partner in 2014 and brings 25 years of international business experience in consultancy. He has worked in partnership with a wide range of global clients, including Rolls-Royce, Coca-Cola, Fujitsu and BskyB, primarily on major change initiatives and leadership development.
Nick has an MBA and an MSc in Information Management and Organizational Change. He is a highly experienced executive coach and qualified to work with a number of psychometric tools such as MBTI.
Nick is a passionate sports fan with a particular love of rugby as well as cycling and diving which allow him to indulge his weakness for tight clothing.
Charlie is a performance psychologist with a background in elite sport both as a competitor and performance specialist. Charlie served for 5 years as an Officer in the British Army including operational service in Iraq. In 2007 Charlie was the National Modern Pentathlon champion and went on to compete at the World Championships. Charlie has worked with a range of Olympic and professional sports teams as well as blue chip multi-nationals such as Virgin, Coca-Cola and Barclaycard. Charlie was the Performance Psychologist for GB Skeleton, working with Lizzy Yarnold as she became Olympic Champion at the Sochi Games in 2014. Charlie has a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Sport and Performance Psychology.
Bob spent 25 years serving in the military - hard to believe from his youthful portrait! He served initially in the Armoured Corps before transferring to UK Special Forces where he spent the majority of his career. A senior leader within his Sabre Squadron he was a specialist linguist and mountaineer. Bob has served all over the world and was awarded an MBE for his services.
Since leaving the military Bob has established his own adventure activities business, (www.contouroutdoor.com) with whom Metris Leadership retain a close partnership; drawing on the ethos, organisational and leadership principles acquired from his previous service and applying them in the outdoor sector.
Bob is a qualified Mountain Instructor (MIA). As well as climbing, running and cycling, he is passionate about Welsh Rugby and owns an angry neurotic cat named Dylan.
Mark served for over 20 years in the Royal Air Force , serving all over the world as an aircrew specialist developing high performance teams. Mark was the head of RAF leadership development at the Defence Academy where he was responsible for the design and delivery of programmes to both junior and advanced RAF officer course.
As as a senior leader, consultant and coach, Mark has led and participated in programmes and initiatives for a variety of clients including Acer, Skanska, Reading University & Blackwells. Mark has an MA in Leadership Studies from Exeter University, is a Level 7 ILM coach and a registered member of the British Psychological society. He is qualified in a range of psychometirc instruments including MBTI, Belbin, Hogan and Firo B.
Mark’s outside interests include cycling & building his own bikes. He is unfortunately a lifelong Manchester Utd fan.
A French national, Valerie now lives in London. The early part of Valerie's career was spent in telecoms working for BT, in Market Development, Alliance and then Sales & Marketing Management, both in Europe and Asia.
After taking a sabbatical in Tanzania with VSO, Valerie decided to pursue her long standing interest in people development and started working as an Executive Coach, Facilitator and Leadership Development trainer. She has been doing so ever since, in numerous countries across Europe and Africa. Outside of the commercial world, Valerie is actively working with NGOs (women’s development and education). Valerie has an MBA and an MSc in International business and strategy.
Valerie’s bespoke client work includes PwC, DuPont and the World Health Organisation. Valerie's interests include travel, climbing, singing, running, skydiving and very dark chocolate.
Fi served in the Army for 16 years as an officer in the Education Corps before leaving to Join Metris Leadership in 2015. During her career Fi served as a senior instructor at the Army Foundation College, as Chief of Staff at the Defence School of Languages and as the Vice Principal of Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College.
Fi is an expert in the design of training and development programmes for leaders at all levels. She has a wealth of experience in designing programmes for continuous improvement, values led leadership, change management and cultural change. Fi has worked outside of the military on our open programme as well as with the Loughborough elite athletes programme and Blackwells. Fi has a BSC in Education and an MSc in HR Development and Performance Management
Fi’s outside interests include horse riding, outdoor pursuits, running and camping adventures with her young family.
Stephen is a highly experienced business leader who has worked at board level for over twenty years in consumer, retail, B2B and industrial markets. Latterly he was Managing Director of Marstons Brewery PLC. He has been involved in many mergers, acquisitions and organizational change programmes. He has high-level experience of strategic planning in areas as diverse as brands marketing and HR. He has worked as a coach and mentor for many years within an organizational setting and now brings that real-life experience to professional coaching and development.
Stephen is a professionally trained business coach, having studied at Henley Business School. He holds the Professional Certificate in Coaching an MA in modern languages from Oriel College Oxford and is on the Association for Coaching accreditation scheme. He is a non-executive director with a long-established family brewery, chairman of a restaurant business as well as being a Governor at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton’s Business School.
Stephen’s outside interests include hill walking, skiing and flying - which he does very badly having crashed and lived to tell the tale.
Vicki spent 8 years in the RAF specialising in leadership development and the professional development of aircrew. Since leaving she has specialised in outdoor learning and bushcraft skills both as an independent consultant and as a lecturer for the University of Cumbria on their MA in Training in the Outdoors.
Vicki is a Trustee and instructor for the Forest School Association working with children to provide opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment. Vicki has a BA in English and an MA in Development training in the Outdoors.
She has worked with a wide range of clients including Ricoh, Blackwell’s, Universities and schools as well as continuing to consult to the RAF on the development of specialist aircrew training programmes.
Vicki competes in triathlons, long distance open water swimming and loves hill-walking and body boarding with her family.
Jon is a coach and facilitator with over 30 years’ experience working in leadership development, starting out as an occasional visiting tutor at The Leadership Trust and going full time into the profession in 2002 when he qualified as a coach, accredited by The Institute of Human Development.
He had a long and international career in the publishing world, running an overseas division in his mid-twenties and ultimately serving as managing director for several organisations in the magazine and digital businesses.
Jon became a grandfather in 2018 but still retains an ambition to resemble Jurgen Klopp as well as to meet the great man himself.
