What we do
Leveraging leadership, teamwork & culture for success
Metris is a specialist consultancy working with ambitious, high growth businesses to help them leverage leadership and teamwork as critical components of their competitive advantage.
Focus on enhancing value
We don’t parachute in with a deck – we embed in your business to understand the people and unique pressures. We then craft a bespoke solution to fix what’s broken, scale what’s working, and build what’s missing.
Our over-riding focus is your bottom line:
- Engaged, motivated people…
- Working towards a shared purpose…
- That ultimately boosts performance, profitability and long-term growth.
Clarity in complexity
Our roots are in the ethos of UK Special Forces and in other sectors used to solving novel problems in complex, high-consequence environments. Situations that are often characterised by inadequate, ambiguous or excessive information, with multiple stakeholders and a mission we have to win. This may sound pretty familiar to your business or organisation too.
At Metris, we’ve operated under pressure. We’ve led in war zones, boardrooms, trauma bays, crisis ops and scaling startups. Experience has taught us that teamwork, leadership and the culture are the critical ingredients for success in any environment.
Our Mission
To grow your competitive advantage
Today, we utilise our unique blend of skills to provide premium-level consultancy, tailored programme design and delivery around the human performance themes of leadership, teams, and culture, primarily in the context of high-pressure business environments.
We don’t believe that anyone is the finished article, and that includes us. We never stop learning from our own experiences, from client insights, and from academic or applied research.
We are constantly evolving and improving in pursuit of our ability to best enable you to achieve lasting growth by leveraging teamwork, leadership, and culture as drivers of business success and competitive advantage.
Meet the Team
Established in 2011, Metris is led by Dan Simmons and Suzie Kellett who share a unique combination of skills drawn from elite military, emergency medicine, performance psychology and business.
Dan
Dan is the founder and MD of Metris and a former Special Forces officer who helps leaders thrive under pressure through strategic consulting and team development.
“Teamwork is the ultimate competitive advantage”
Dan is the Managing Director of Metris, where he helps scale-up leaders, investors, and executive teams build stronger leadership, higher-performing teams, and cultures that thrive under pressure. His work brings clarity and confidence to organisations facing fast-moving, complex challenges—bridging the gap between ambition and execution, with a deep understanding of what drives human performance.
Before founding Metris, Dan spent 16 years in the British Army, including eight as an officer in the Special Air Service (SAS). As well as jobs in the MOD, in planning and crisis response and working on the Directing Staff at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and The Army Staff College. Those years shaped a belief that teamwork and leadership are the keys to organisational success, especially in spaces that are competitive uncertain and pressured.
Dan’s motivation for founding Metris stemmed partly out of frustration that too much leadership development is left too late and to chance and that almost no organisations equip leaders with a playbook or the tools to build teams. With the right structure and a deliberate approach, leaders can accelerate their growth and create environments where people and performance flourish.
He works closely with founders and senior teams who share that ambition, helping them unlock potential and codify high-growth cultures built on trust and shared purpose. Outside work, Dan finds joy in running, skiing, and climbing and continues to believe that a bit of shared hardship has a way of bringing people together. He has Masters’ Degrees in Strategy and Performance Psychology.
Suzie
Suzie blends medical, military, and Foreign Office experience to support high-performing teams in high-stakes settings.
‘I believe that people hold the keys to unlocking organisational potential, and I love to see this potential realised’.
Suzie is a director at Metris and works with teams, leaders, and organisational culture in high-growth and high-consequence sectors. She has been a medical doctor for over two decades—including an early career as an Army doctor. Suzie brings a unique blend of clinical, military, business, and diplomatic expertise to her work.
Studying decision-making under pressure while designing Major Trauma team training, sparked a lifelong commitment to understanding and developing the pillars that help people to deliver results: teamwork, leadership, and culture. Her career spans leadership roles in medicine, government, elite sport, and business, including service as a UK diplomat and academic study of leadership in the US.
A sought-after advisor, facilitator and speaker, Suzie has worked with academic, political, and business audiences on team function and the integration of AI into human teams. She continues to work 1-day per week as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist, staying grounded in the realities of delivering results when it matters most. Suzie is known for her empathetic, optimistic, and usefully challenging approach, tailoring her work to help senior leaders and investors unlock organisational potential and deliver ambitious goals.
Suzie is currently studying psychotherapy, further deepening her understanding of people and performance. Outside work, she enjoys being in or on the sea – swimming, kayaking, or sailing—and enjoys literature, art, music, gardening and bees.
Connecting brilliant people
We have handpicked a diverse group of associates with an exceptional depth and range of experience as leaders in their field. This means that we can always match the right specialist to your business’s culture and needs.
As a group, what we share in common is that we have led teams and organisations in the real world. We’ve reflected deeply on our experience, made sense of it and synthesised it with insights from research and the experience of others.
Many of us also have a background in Psychology. As leadership and teamwork are skilled behaviours, it’s essential that we understand behaviour and what shapes, drives and influences individuals and teams.
“We all care deeply about the value that leadership and teamwork create and our mission to connect and enable others to succeed in their goals.”
